Our Mission

We are The Chemo Queens and, together, we’re on a mission to make a profound difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Founded by recent cancer survivors and sisters, Kesley and Blythe Howard, along with Olivia Scott Lane, we are dedicated to helping you and your loved ones navigate the cancer journey with Grit & Glamour.

Our goal is simple yet powerful – to empower, uplift, and support those going through chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. We’ve created survivor-backed resource guides, a carefully curated line of CQ products, exclusive partnerships and deals with our favorite, tried-and-true beauty brands, cold capping advice, and guidance

…. everything you and your loved ones need while undergoing treatment.

We’ve been down this road ourselves. We know the twists and turns, the highs and lows… and no one has to face this journey alone.

Kesley Howard

Blythe Howard

Kesley Howard

Growing up surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, Kesley was raised by her wonderful mother Kim, alongside her sister Blythe, who is the best one could ask for. As she journeyed through life, Kesley’s love for travel and exploring the world grew into an almost obsessive passion for finding the most stunning views on the planet. Immersing herself in new cultures and meeting people from all walks of life fills Kes with immense joy, along with pursuing her other passions for home decor, entertainment, and all things beauty.

In 2019, Kesley took a leap to leave behind the world she knew and embarked on an epic around-the-world trip for nine months, living in a new country every month, until the global pandemic changed everything. The new journey led her to Los Angeles, where she began to slowly establish roots in this vibrant city.

Just as the world was beginning to reopen, her life took an unexpected turn. In 2021, Kesley received a diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the BRCA1 Gene Mutation. This experience transformed her in countless ways – teaching her lessons about oneself, resilience, and the severe lack of resources available to people like her. She yearned for the means to guide her in every aspect of the journey; from navigating online forums, to preparing for chemotherapy, to coping with surgery and radiation.

Throughout the nine months of her cancer journey, Kesley bravely shared her story; hoping to inspire others to find the strength they never knew they had. Her goal now is to help at least one person find comfort in the uncomfortable and light the way for those who cannot see the next step in front of them.

Blythe Howard

While Kesley’s journey with cancer was ending, Blythe’s was just beginning. Blythe was diagnosed with stage II Ovarian Cancer early December 2022. After feeling severe pain in her lower abdomen, Blythe went to the ER where they ran all the scans under the sun. Even as a BRCA1 gene carrier – she saw the PET scan, she saw the MRI, she saw the oncologist look her right in the eye and heard him clearly say “we’re talking about saving your life”. Blythe even got a second opinion, but to be honest it wasn’t until AFTER her surgery that she knew for sure what she was faced with. All Blythe knew at that time was, whatever this “LARGE mass” was, it needed to come out. Surgery was inevitable (cool, cool, cool) but she also needed to be properly diagnosed by a pathologist, period. Blythe had a very successful open abdominal surgery and was out of the hospital in two and a half days. All of January she focused on healing while simultaneously working multiple jobs. She even traveled for all of them!

On February 14th, Blythe began chemotherapy and after a near death experience with one of the drugs on the first day, she immediately knew she wanted to share her experience with the world and scream it from the rooftops! Kesley and Blythe both know what it’s like to scour the internet looking for resources and digging through blogs… just to come up short. Also, where are the blogs for younger women? Where are the resource guides for people of color? Insert, CHEMO QUEENS. Blythe and Kesley knew they wanted to share their stories because your life doesn’t have to stop with this diagnosis. One of the most important parts of Blythe’s journey has been the decision to cold cap throughout treatment. Navigating the pros and cons within the cold cap industry led Blythe to partner up with her sister, Olivia, and Blake to raise awareness, educate, and ELEVATE the industry to the next level.

Blythe Howard is an American actress who quickly garnered attention, booking her first commercial within one week of moving to Los Angeles from Maple Valley, Washington. Her decision to move and pursue acting came quickly after winning a contest to be a VJ for a day on MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL). With undeniable talent and tenacity, Blythe has landed over 60 major brand commercials, and actively works in film and television. Blythe adapts and shines in any role she plays with credits in multiple Primetime shows, including Yellowstone (Paramount), Walker (CW), Silicon Valley (HBO) and Dynasty (CW).

Confidence and authenticity radiate through Blythe’s performances, playing powerful roles like CEO and FBI agent, which she jokes she’s been ready for since her first boyfriend betrayal. Simply put, Blythe is a natural on camera. Working with David Fincher as a recurring news anchor on season two of Mindhunter (Netflix), Blythe drew on her experiences of broadcast journalism, which she studied at Washington State University.

“I wanted to be an anchor since 3rd grade, I just fell in love with journalism. But then, I got to play a news anchor on tv…I realized that was the dream all along.”

Resilience and hard work are part of Blythe’s DNA. As an all-round athlete growing up, Blythe developed a strong work ethic. Influenced by her parents, Ron Howard (former NFL Seattle Seahawks tight end) and her mother, Kim Kelly (a business woman and interior design entrepreneur), Blythe is not one to shy away from taking initiative.

She recently created, acted and produced, Project Payne, an empowering action comedy following a hit woman navigating through life choices and relationships. It echoes Blythe’s life philosophy that “If you really want something, you have to go after it. You have to take responsibility. Make it happen.” With the perfect amount of stage fight, Blythe inherently showcases her combat and tactical training.

Whether she’s practicing Muay Thai, coaching fellow actors, or acting, Blythe believes there is “No cutting corners. No magic shortcuts. When you put in the work, the work will speak for itself.”
